March 31 Events / Frontier League All-Star Home Run Derby & Game / Dierks Bentley Concert
The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, have been hard at work preparing the Corn Crib to be more than a turf baseball field during the Belters season. CornBelters baseball kicks off May 10 with the team’s first home exhibition game of the year, but that won’t be the first gate opening of the year for the professional baseball organization.
On Saturday, March 31, children ages 2-10 will flood the field and gather up thousands of Easter eggs filled with all sorts of candy and prizes! Special offers for CornBelters tickets and merchandise, good for March 31 only, will be included in a few hundred eggs. There will also be various children’s activities around the ballpark. This is a free event that is open to the public and does not require pre-registration. [Egg Hunt Times: Ages 2 & under, 11:15am; Ages 3-4 years, 11:30am; Ages 5-7 years, 11:45am; Ages 8-10 years, 12pm]
Take a quick jump ahead into mid-July and you’ll see that the Corn Crib is set to host the 2012 Frontier League All-Star Home Run Derby (July 10) and Frontier League All-Star Game (July 11), both presented by State Farm. That same week, country artist Dierks Bentley will headline the Corn Crib’s first stand-alone concert on Saturday, July 14. Jon Pardi will open the show at 7pm followed by Josh Thompson. Bentley, known for chart-topping hits including this week’s #1 song “Home,” as well as, “Am I the Only One,” “Sideways,” “What Was I Thinkin”, and “Come a Little Closer,” is scheduled to take the stage at 9pm.
Tickets for the Dierks Bentley are currently on sale at www.normalbaseball.com or at the CornBelters Box Office, 1000 West Raab Road in Normal or 309-454-2255. CornBelters individual game tickets will go on sale beginning at 10am on Saturday, March 31.
