farm progress show decatur, ILThat’s right – we’re headed to the Farm Progress Show in Decatur this week.  We’ll meet up with our members, talk to corn farmers from all over the state, and learn quite a bit from our colleagues.

We’ll also give away a lot of free stuff.

But I know you can’t all join us in Decatur this week so I’d like to offer the free stuff to you!!

Leave a comment and tell me what you’ll be doing this week while we’re at the Farm Progress Show.  When we return, I’ll draw a winner to get one of everything we gave away!

Last week, we held a spring preparation photo contest on Instagram using the hashtag #ilcplantprep.  There were a lot of great entries, and after tallying up the votes this was the winning photo:

Congratulations to Mary Beth Burtle!   She entered the contest in honor of her 87 year old Grandfather, Robert J. Burtle. He is pictured on his newly restored Oliver tractor. This was the first NEW tractor he and his father purchased together when he started farming.

We love seeing all your photos and now we are bringing the contest to Facebook!  Email your spring prep photos to or post to Facebook and tag us @IL Corn AND use the hashtag #ilcplantprep by this Friday, April 11 and you could win a great prize just like Mary Beth!

prepareAre you on Instagram? If so, follow us at ilcorn and take part in our latest photo contest!  We want to see how you are preparing for spring, anything from purchasing seed packets for your garden to maintenance preformed on your tractor.  Submit your photos by tagging us AND using the hashtag #ILCPLANTPREP, entries will be accepted until the end of the day!

Grillin Apron**CONGRATS ENTRY #56, DAVE H.**

I love summer.  I love the smell of fresh-cut hay.  I love that when I get off work I still have plenty of daylight to spend time outside with my daughter going on bike rides, checking out bugs and playing on the swing set.  I love sitting in the middle of the lake with a fishing pole in my hand and jumping in to the water to cool myself off when I just can’t take the heat any longer.  And I really love cooking supper on the grill.  You can bet if it’s a nice day (and sometimes even when it’s not!) you can find me grilling something up for my family to eat.

It certainly makes sense then that I also love the month of May.   To me, May means the beginning of summer and summer equates all of the above, especially grilling.  That’s probably why May is also National Barbeque Month!

Because of my love for May and all things that scream summer, and this weekend (Memorial Day) being one of the most well-known weekends for barbequing, we are giving away a barbeque set (use it to cook up your own DaBurger!) to one lucky reader!

Entry is easy, just click on the Rafflecopter link below and it will take you to an entry form.  Contest ends May 28th.  Good luck!
